We or your local builder of choice can carry out these works. Detailed drawings will be supplied to assist your local choice builder to enable him to complete the groundwork so that the conservatory will fit. Your choice local builder will be responsible to adhere to the supplied specification and dimensions required.
- Unlike a house in most instances the walls of a conservatory are not load bearing. Therefore, foundations of 600mm deep x 450mm wide will suffice.
- Foundations to be 1:2:4 mix concrete with Sulphate Resisting cement loaded concentrically. However, if full height rather than dwarf walls are required, we will recommend depth of 1000mm.
- These are general specifications and details may well vary from one site to another.
- Furthermore should building regulations apply these will be adhered to which may mean much deeper depth of footings. E.g. With trees in near proximity building regulations may ask for 2400mm deep footings.
- Dwarf walls are normally 600mm high built up from the footings. They can be brick, stone, or rendered block, interior and exterior or interior block with smooth plaster finish.
- The dwarf wall will be a cavity in most instances with the cavity being insulated. Wall ties are normally spaced at 5 per square metre. Also if brickwork below garden level an engineer brick will be used to build up above.
- The base floor is built up with 100mm of clean hardcore/ballast, blinded with sand/ballast.
- Polystyrene-styrofoam floor insulation is placed on the hardcore(this may alter in respect of different floor finish), and a 1200 gauge polythene membrane laid to this with min 30mm top, 50mm bottom and 30mm edge to cover with 200mm welted laps at joints lapped 100mm.
